Zadzim Fireball — April 17, 2026

A brilliant fireball was captured by an all-sky camera in Łódź on April 17, 2026, at about 20:54 CEST. The meteor appears toward the western horizon as an intense white-yellow flare, briefly outshining the evening sky and leaving a short luminous trail.

This detection is consistent with the documented Zadzim fireball, observed over central Poland at 20:53:59 CEST. The event was recorded by the Skytinel fireball network, and later analysis indicated that part of the meteoroid survived its passage through the atmosphere.

The fall led to the recovery of an iron meteorite in the Zadzim commune, in the Łódź Voivodeship. This makes the event more than a typical fleeting meteor: it was a bright bolide associated with a recovered fragment of extraterrestrial material.
